Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 1 January 2026
Our commitment
Harzklub Wildemann is committed to making harzklub-wildemann.de accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
Current accessibility features
- All images include descriptive alt text. We do not use alt="" except for decorative images that add no informational value.
- The site uses semantic HTML5 elements (nav, main, article, aside, footer) to support screen reader navigation.
- Colour contrast ratios meet WCAG 2.1 AA minimum requirements throughout.
- The site is fully navigable by keyboard.
- Font sizes are set in relative units (rem/em) and scale with browser text size preferences.
- Interactive elements have visible focus states.
- The mobile menu includes aria-label and aria-expanded attributes.
- The site does not autoplay video or audio.
- The reading progress bar and scroll animations are decorative and do not carry information.
Known limitations
- The interactive map on the map page is a schematic SVG representation. Full interactive map functionality (if implemented via a third-party library) may have limitations for keyboard and screen reader users. We recommend the text-based trail descriptions as the primary source of trail information.
- Some older heritage archive images may have abbreviated alt text pending review.
Feedback
We welcome feedback on accessibility. If you find content that is inaccessible or if you need information in an alternative format, please contact us at [email protected]. We aim to respond within five working days.
Enforcement procedure
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the relevant enforcement body in Germany. For public sector bodies, this is the responsible Landesbeauftragte für Behindertengleichstellung. As a private website operator, we are not subject to the EU Web Accessibility Directive, but we maintain these standards voluntarily.
