Editorial Policy

Independence

Harzklub Wildemann accepts no advertising, no affiliate commissions and no paid placements. No business, accommodation provider, tourism organisation or other party has paid to be featured on this site or to have their content presented favourably.

We have not received free accommodation, guided tours or other hospitality in exchange for coverage. Where we have received complimentary access to an event or facility for review purposes, this is disclosed in the relevant piece.

Who writes the content

Content is written by:

• Lena Wortmann — trail descriptions, ecology notes and seasonal guides. Lena studied geography at the TU Clausthal and has walked the western Harz trail network extensively over more than fifteen years. She lives in the region.
• Tobias Grunewald — heritage archive content, local history and cultural pieces. Tobias has a background in regional history and has worked with the Stadtarchiv Goslar on mining-era documentation projects. He grew up in Clausthal-Zellerfeld.

All trail descriptions are based on first-hand walks. We do not write about trails we have not personally covered.

Research and fact-checking

Trail data (distances, elevation, waymarking) is cross-referenced against official Harzklub Goslar and Nationalpark Harz sources. Historical content is checked against primary and secondary sources, which are identified in the text where specific claims are made.

Seasonal information is updated annually. Trail pages carry a "last updated" date. If conditions have changed significantly, we update the relevant page.

Corrections

We take accuracy seriously. If you find an error in our content — factual, logistical or otherwise — please contact us at [email protected] with the URL of the page and the specific correction. We will review the information, update the content if the correction is warranted, and acknowledge the correction where relevant.

We do not silently edit factual errors. Where a significant correction is made to an existing piece, we note it at the bottom of the relevant page with a date.

What we don't cover

We do not cover accommodation, restaurants or services that we cannot vouch for from personal experience or reliable local knowledge. We do not maintain a comprehensive directory of every business in the Harz — only the places we can describe honestly.

We do not publish speculative trail conditions, unverified events or second-hand trail descriptions.
