Small guided group on a forest trail in the Harz with morning light through the trees

Services

What we can help with — and what is outside our scope.

Harzklub Wildemann is primarily an editorial platform — the guides, trail descriptions and heritage content are the core of what we do. Alongside the publication, we offer a small number of services to individuals and organisations with genuine interest in the Harz region. We do not operate at scale and do not take bookings through this website.

GW-01
Guided Walks
For: Individual visitors, small groups (max 8), slow-travel guests

Half-day and full-day guided walks in the western Harz with ecological and historical commentary. Routes are selected based on the group's experience, the season and what the landscape currently offers. Not scripted — different each time.

  • Pre-walk conversation to understand group experience and interests
  • Route selection and briefing
  • On-trail commentary covering ecology, geology and local history where relevant
  • Printed trail notes to take home
  • Post-walk recommendations for the rest of your stay
Scope note: We lead walks in the western Harz only — primarily the Wildemann, Clausthal and Gosetal areas. We do not lead the Brocken summit in winter conditions. Maximum group size is 8 to keep the experience worth having.
PW-02
Photography Workshops
For: Photographers, landscape artists, slow-travel visitors with camera interest

Field-based photography sessions focused on the Harz landscape — forest light, mist, autumn colour and structural elements like the mining headframes. Sessions are timed around the conditions rather than fixed schedules.

  • Seasonal timing consultation — when and where to be
  • Half-day field session at pre-selected locations
  • Technical guidance on light, exposure and composition as relevant to the conditions
  • Location notes and return-visit recommendations
Scope note: These are not photography courses. We assume basic familiarity with manual camera settings. The focus is location knowledge and timing, not technique instruction.
RS-03
Regional Research Support
For: Journalists, documentary makers, travel writers, academic researchers

Background research support for projects covering the Harz region — historical context, local contacts, access facilitation and editorial review of regional content. This is not a PR service; it is support for people doing genuine investigative or editorial work.

  • Initial scoping conversation to understand project and requirements
  • Background notes on the historical, ecological or cultural topic in question
  • Introductions to local contacts where appropriate and with their consent
  • Review of draft text for regional accuracy
Scope note: We do not provide this service for marketing content, destination marketing organisations or commercial tourism promotions. Our editorial independence is not for sale.
EC-04
Editorial Collaboration
For: Regional tourism bodies, cultural institutions, Harz-based organisations

Content development partnerships with organisations whose work is genuinely aligned with authentic regional storytelling. This means writing, editorial structuring and content strategy for platforms that meet the same editorial standards we apply to this site.

  • Editorial audit of existing content
  • Content strategy for regional digital platforms
  • Long-form writing and trail guide development
  • Editorial review and standards consultation
Scope note: We do not write content that misrepresents trail difficulty, inflates attendance figures, omits relevant access or safety information, or uses artificial urgency. If that's the brief, we're not the right collaborators.
